On our H42P we have a constant problem with water that splashes out of the sink. The water collects in a corner and must be soaked up with a sponge. I'm sure that other boats have similar problems with water collecting in a corner of the galley counter top. I have considered drilling a hole and putting in a small drain connected to the main sink drain. Has anyone done this? Yes, I know, I could just sail with the boat heeled over at a good angle to drain the water away from the corner (ha ha). Thanks for the help and ideas...... Larry & Diana s/v Summer Wind

Why is...

there enough water in the sink to slosh up onto the counter? Are we washing dishes? I'd keep the sink empty while I was sailing.

Is the Seacock Open?

If it is, why? I would think that the prudent sailor would close his seacocks when he goes to sea - I do.

The problem with the sink water is...

Yes guys, I close the sea cock when sailing. Maybe I didn't make the problem clear in my first post. When washing dishes (at the dock, or at anchor) some water will splash up on the counter around the sink. Due to the fiddle rail around the counter top, water will collect in the corners. We use a sponge to soak up the water, but I would like to put in a small drain with a small tube that connects to the sink drain tube. Has anyone done this? Or do you have any other ideas on how to get rid of standing water on the counter top? Thanks again for your help. Larry
