Funny noise from AB compressor

my old AB compressor started making a loud rumble noise every 10 seconds or so whe it’s cooling. It still works bu annoying. Is. The fan or compressor going out. Putting my hand on the compressor it feels fine.

Edit forgot to add it pulls 0.4 more amps when making the noise.

More drag=bearing? They can make funny noises.

Could be but I would have expected vibration with a bearing.

Liquid refrigerant getting into the compressor? (a bit too much fill? and cold condenser temperature)

@kloudie1 I’m fairly sure not over filled. No maintenance in last 3 years and who knows how long before that. It is the compressor and I don’t think it’s bearing noise (definitely not the fan).

Do the make noise when low on refrigerant??

Fixed. It was the 12v fan. All is well again.

The amazing thing was I had a 4” 12VDC muffin fan on the boat!!
