After having removed the timing gear cover and removing the fuel pump of my Yanmar 2GM20F, I found the timing Shims, 2 pieces, to be pretty beat up. I intend to replace both with new Shims. Any concern? Appreciate comment. Thanks.

I would use a micrometer to make sure what I put back is the same as what you removed.. Other than that caution on any sealant taht you might use. It must be pretty light and "squishy" so that it doesn't increase the stack height of the shim pack.

Claude, I don't intend to use any sealant there since it'll be new shims, i suppose it'll be very close tolerance after tightening. There's only 1 part number for both shims so I suppose it'll be standard thickness. I'll keep the old ones for just in case. Thanks for the heads up.

5 Shims per set pack

Çlaude, guess what? I ordered 2 Shim Sets, thinking its just 2 pcs. Well each sets comes with 5 shims! 4 ranges from 0.1 to 0.15mm and another about 0.45mm or so.
Glad you sound out to me to measure the old shims. Thanks again. :D
