I am in the process of replacing the diesel fuel tank sender unit and install a new gauge. Problem is the sender sensor flange is not the standard SAE five hole pattern but has just 4 holes. All kits appear to be for 5 hole. How to fix it ? The boat was built in France 1984.

There are 2 ways to fix your problem.
Place and mark sender, where the 4 holes miss lining up with existing 5 holes, so you have your 4 holes to drill and tap, over solid metal. THE new gasket will cover old unwanted holes.
2. Make a washer ring. See a stainless fabricator, if you can't do it.
Where you have 5 holes, you drill and countersink screw heads onto the tank, then drill and tap 4 holes into the ring to match your new sender.
Good luck, Ross G
