We were thinking of replacing the forstay shackle on the furling jib to make it secure and easier to attach and not lose. Our current system is a shackle attached to the bottom of the furler and a cotter pin and ring. Sometime )once sine is a new boat) we stepped the mast in the dock and had to pull the furler down to fit the pin from the now. I am afraid I might lose either piece overboard and it takes a while to loop the ring through. So I thought of using http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=331247170983 which I used on hobies. Not sure the size and tried to find spare of current shackle at west Marine and it must be metric cause 3/8 and 1/2 and 5/8 don't fit. Or I could use a d shackle if I know size. Anyone else deal with this?
