First 285 Fuel gage

I have just bought a 1988 First 285 with a Volvo 2002 Diesel. It is supposed to have a fuel gage but I can't find it. There appears to be several dimly lit lights by the start button (temp., battery, oil and one other I can't decipher). Does anyone know where it would be?

Hi. I have a 1988 with a Volvo 2003T engine but my manual shows data for the 2002 as well.According to the manual, there is an instrument panel with no fuel gauge ("Alternativ A"). The picture shows the rpm guage directly above the alarm panel on the left (only 3 alarm lights with an empty space). To the right is the actual alarm buzzer at the top, the alarm check and instrument lighting stitches below that, and finally the ignition switch on the bottom. No fuel guage.Go figure.... why would they even make an instrument panel without a fuel gauge?Troy

Maybe not is likely right.

Many thanks for checking your mnual. After much poking about, I have come to the realization there is no gauge!

Fuel Stick

We too have recently purchased a 1988 First 285 with a Volvo 2002 Diesel. On ours, there is no fuel gage... the previous owner had made markings on a 1/4-inch wood dowel that he was using as a dipstick. We've tried it, and it seem to work ok.
