We just bought a 1993 Classic (D or S?). There are a couple of gouges in the side. I could wet sand but can I fill them and come close to matching the hull color? I'm handy but have never worked with fiberglass.

Hi Jerry... For gouges I use Marine-Tex White on my 26X. Easy to mix(2 part epoxy with fillers).Matches the hull and easy to apply with auto body plastic putty knives. This stuff is super TOUGH! Just sand surface and clean with acetone for good adhesion. Hardens in 2-3 hours and full cure in 18-24 hours.Get the Evercoat"Project Repair Guide" at any boat shop that sells fiberglass repair materials for help on how to work with fiberglass.Wear a dust mask, the dust is itchy and not a good thing to have in your lungs! Work in a WELL ventilated area. The fumes are super TOXIC. happy fiberglassing....dan
