Fiberglass repair

We just bought a 1993 Classic (D or S?). There are a couple of gouges in the side. I could wet sand but can I fill them and come close to matching the hull color? I'm handy but have never worked with fiberglass.

Hi Jerry...For gouges I use Marine-Tex White on my 26X.Easy to mix(2 part epoxy with fillers).Matchesthe hull and easy to apply with auto body plastic putty knives. This stuff is super TOUGH!Just sand surface and clean with acetone forgood adhesion. Hardens in 2-3 hours and full cure in 18-24 hours.Get the Evercoat"ProjectRepair Guide" at any boat shop that sellsfiberglass repair materials for help on how towork with fiberglass.Wear a dust mask, the dustis itchy and not a good thing to have in yourlungs! Work in a WELL ventilated area.The fumes are super TOXIC. happy fiberglassing....dan
