Electric windlass

I've just returned from 2 weeks' sailing on a Bavaria 36 Cruiser. One of the issues I had was, I couldn't figure out how to drop anchor using "free fall". Is anybody familiar with the operation modes of the electric windlass? Thanks.

Assuming that it is a verticle windlass, in the middle of the capstan there is a hole for a winch handle. Crank the winch counter clockwise to loosen and freefall, and clockwise to thighten.

Thanks for the suggestion. It is a horizontal winch and I'm not sure if there was a feature for the winch handle. I'll have to check when I'm on the boat next time.
