If you notice, the attachment strap wraps down & is bolted 3 to 4 connections to the bow. There should be an internal nose reinforcement inside for support. Looking at the cut-away on the nose top to allow the strap support to bend down, this was the original design. In addition, the fiberglass is structurally stronger & thicker at the nose. Your decktop fiberglass thickness is much thinner
The drum has the base unit stationary allowing the drum to turn independently. My boat has a machined coupler bottom part that attaches to the furler frame which stays stationary. Although my furler is a different brand & you have a single line furler, the concept remains the same.
My 1980 C30 has a similar setup pal.
