My 1984 H27 came with a westerbeak diesel. Is this different than most? I seem to see that most articles here seem to ask about Renault's or Volvo. Mine came original with the boat and other than changing the oil, I have never had a single problem. It seems that the others are always in need of some type of repair.

Au contraire

John, The Renault diesel in the Hunter 27 has been in my experience the most dependable, reliable engine that one could imagine. It has not so much as burped or coughed and has gotten me out of innumerable embarrassing situations. Plus it hardly uses any fuel. My 27 has a three-bladed prop that helps push it as well. But, the Renault diesel is a very good engine. It has to be one of the simplest engines ever made. More if you desire it. Thanks, Joe

westerbeke on a 33

I too have a Westerbeke, however, mine was installed after-market. It is a Westerbeke 21a (24 hp). I love this engine, electric fuel pump (no need to worry about bleeding any air in the fuel system, done automatically). All in all a great engine. By the way, I have 1500 hours on it and the only problem was the heat-exchanger needed replacement.
