Site Resources
One of the benefits of this site is the resource information available. Under "The Boats" is a lot of good info about dimensions, including sail dimension, tankage capacities, displacement, etc. Interior plans, pictures, and owner reviews are also there. With regard to dimensions though, if you are going to have your sails made up by a loft they will no doubt have these available in a book. Once you give them the order they will come out and take measurements in order to tailor the sails for your boat. Details like sacrificial spreader patches (to prevent chafe to the sail), jib tack and clew height (depending if you want a deck sweeper or one you can see under, and for genoa car location), etc. They will also check the luff tape diameter. As for some details, for the jib, note if you want the UV protection on the left or right side of the sail. I have mine set up so when I furl the jib it turns in the direction so the tack pendant doesn't snag on the bow roller (clockwise).I'm very sad to hear about your loss and we should all realize that since this was a random act it could have been any one of us. When I was kid many of the marinas didn't even have gates, let alone locked gates. But times are changing and this is typically what comes with increased population and growth. Once the thieves realize what marine gear costs and how to market it we're all likely to become targets.
