shop around a bit
Rates on the West Coast tend to be a bit higher. I hired the manager of a sailing club who had a captain's license and goods refs. It worked out well in terms of the boat being delivered quickly and in good condition.Ask at your area clubs or among racersThe deal included me paying for air fare for the crew of three to the pickup point, a night in a motel (required to get to the right place), fuel and all provisions. I also took them all out to dinner the night before they took off. Crew does not normally get paid, as they are people like me who do it for experience.I can't recall the fee, but it seems it was something like $200 per day.I think the references were really important, as some delivery captains have a reputation for non-stop high-speed which can damage a boat. Personally, I'd rather pay an extra day and have less to repair. Sanders
