Daysailer swing centerboard

Greetings,
I am writing in hopes to find some direction with the reinstallation of my center board on my 1969 oday daysailer. Prior to taking the center board out I had a problem with the cb dropping out of the trunk and not being able to keep it in the “up” position.

I am hoping after the purchase of a few new items i.e. locking pawl for handle, pivot bolt w/ locking nut, cb plates, and rubber washer that this will fix the issue. Is this correct?

Also, do you have any 411 or a diagram as to the proper installation of the cb unit (including parts mentioned above)?

Thank you in advance for your time.

There is no pivot bolt on the DS I Centerboard. The shaft on the handle is the pivot. Re-assembly goes like this:
1) insert CB into trunk, this may take 2 people, one in boat, one under boat (or outside boat if boat is rolled over).
2) carefully line up hole in CB with the hole in the starboard side of the trunk (CB case).
Place rubber gasket on shaft of handle and insert shaft into hole in CB trunk, be sure to line up the square part of the shaft with the square hole in CB and be sure that handle is pointing 90 deg to the CB (see pics and diagrams below).
3)Once handle shaft is all the way in and the disk-shape part is against the side of the CB trunk, attach the triangle plate to the side of the trunk using the 3 screws clamping the handle in place.
4) I should have mentioned placing hte pawl onto the upper, forward screw before inserting that screw. It actually goes between the plate and the side of the CB trunk. I suspect that when Rudy sent you that pawl it may not have had a hole drilled in it? That may be a challenge, but I would hope that he would have sent some kind of instructions?
5) after all is back together, tighten the 3 screws until the gasket just starts to compress. You may need to adjust these again, first besure hte CB will move using the lever, if it moves with only a little friction... I'd leave it for now, if you can't move it.. loosen the screws slightly. Once boat is in the water try lowering/raising the CB a few times, it should move smoothly, but stay in what ever position you leave it in. If it slips down, tighten the screws a bit. It is normal for a slight amount of water to drip from the CB lever at first, as the gasket swells a bit in the water it should stop or at least become very slight.
On my old 1969 Widgeon (12' O'DAY) I had the same CB setup, but never had that pawl (that is why I'm a bit fuzzy on just how it was installed), but instead used a short line tied to the mast that I would tie to the CB lever to hold it up while moored. If you trailer, I would NOT use the Pawl or a line like mine to hold the Cb up, but instead be sure to have a roller or 2 on the trailer that the CB will rest on (just be sure to raise CB and secure up before launching to avoid CB catching on trailer).

Ignore that some of the drawings and pics are actually Widgeons, CB setup is virtually identical to the DS I. I will also try to make a sketch of the locking pawl in use (I should add it to my Expanded Widgeon and DS I Manuals anyway).
