We have continuous furling line on our 1989 Cal 33-2. The current setup has a pulley and shock cord providing tension and a clam cleat for fixing the line once the genny has been fured to desired set. This does not work! The line jumps out of the clam cleat very easily. What other setups actually work?

Continuous Furler

Is this a Cruising Design Furler (CDI). If it is they make a kit which will convert your continuous line to a line drive. I have converted mine and the new setup works good. I had the same problem(s) with my old setup. CDI has a website and everything is explained including prices.

Hood 914?

On my new boat, that is what I have.....forgot the model name. However I loop the line over a cleat and do a simple lock loop that appears to hold very well....so far. I just figured this out during the last few sails of the year (Long Island Haul-out). I was out in 25 knot winds the other day with the sail reefed 50% and it held with no problem. Also, Hood has a deal for a modern design replacement drum that fits the existing unit. I think it sells for $400+. You have to return the continual line drum for this discount. Greg

HOOD FURLER

You Probably have the hood continuos line furler. Hood makes a retrofit unit to make it a single line modern drum furker. sl 800 I think is the model number. Put it on my 87 cal works well.
