Columbia/Volvo Propeller?

I've recently purchased a 1973 Columbia 28 with a Volvo Penta MD1B diesel. I suspect this diesel's chronic sooting could reflect an incorrectly sized propeller (currently a 9X15, two-blade). Does anyone else have a Volvo MD1B installed on their 28? If so, what size propeller are you using?

I have a Volvo on my 8.3 meter and a two-blade prop (don't know what size). I get a thin smoke and blackening of the stern at the exhaust but I am told these are normal.Ned TylerSara TDeale, MD

Diesel Sooting

Mine does this too - whenever the prop is fouled. If you haven't done it yet, check to see if the prop needs cleaning.
