My 1987 Cat 22 cockpit has chalky-to-touch status all over. White dust rubbing off on hands, skin and boat shoes I've tried Starbright Restorer Cleaner and Wax but to no effect. Does anyone have advice on wetsanding which I think is needed?

Here:

I've used the exact methods described in the thread with spectacular results on multiple boats. It's a considerable amount of work, and if you shortcut the process, you can expect to get diminished results.

Thanks for the advice, folks. Just to be clear, my hull is fine. It's the cockpit area and topsides that have this oxidation/chalkiness problem. I'll try these tips.

Take your favorite person on a week long sailing cruise. That chalkiness will all be gone when you get back. ;)

If it’s leaves a chaulk residue don’t use a wax/polish product. It will embed into the oxidation and you’ll not be able to get it off. You could try a combo cleaner/wax on a small area first and if you can’t get it off go with a cutting compound then the wax.
