Does anyone have a good way to keep the bottom clean on an un-antifouled trailer sailer whilst undertaking a three to four week (or longer) trip on the water? We have tried diving and wiping but we still get growth happening. We sail in tropical waters. Bing

Well running aground often seems to be my prefered method. But unless you enjoy the artful act of kedging i would not recomend it.

If you put a good healthy coat of J-Wax on the bottom you can go for weeks with no problems. I have left my boat in for up to two months with no problems.

Thanks, Gary - what is J-Wax?

We don't have this product in Australia. Is it like a surfboard wax or a smooth wax? Bing

If you can get it, Interlux VC Performance Epoxy Bottom Finish. It's a bottom coat that contains teflon(no biocides) that makes the bottom surface very slick. It works well on trailer sailers. Good Luck and God Bless

HOW ABOUT CAR COMPOUND/WAX

CARD COMPOUND IS STRONGER AND THICKER THAN REGULAR WAX.

I doubt car wax will hold up.

It is not made to withstand constant contact with sea water. You'll likely pay more for it, but a good boat wax will likely hold up better and last longer too. ~ Happy sails to you ~ _/) ~
