Is there a way to utilize an electric trolling motor to generate power to charge a 12 volt system. The motor will generate 5 to 8 volts when towed off the stern. Is there a way to step up the power and make it available to charge the batteries?

trolling motor

I wonder about this also. Hope someone with some information responds. I installed a 36 volt 105# thrust Motorguide on my Ericson 23 and am very pleased with the results. At full power I’m getting 4 knts of speed. Attached is a link to an electric propulsion system that has recharge capabilities.

Interesting

Interesting question! Howwever, I am not aware of any way to use a trolling motor for charging - perhaps someone here on this site has tried something that will work. There are tow generators for ocean passages (See LVM's Aquagen options) but this option may be overkill for your application. Best, Trevor
