A few times I've posted about my issues with my centerboard getting stuck in the up position.
1st year I thought it was swelling with water and getting stuck. Nope.
2nd year the yard and I thought the thickness of the eye splice was getting caught in a groove worn into the pendant tube so I switched from 5/16 to 1/4 line. It still got stuck up.
When I pulled the boat this past fall I took a good look at the shackle. It appears to be larger than needed and looks like a repurposed halyard shackle so I will be getting a new one.
But, yesterday I squeezed under the boat and cradle to get a good look. Out of several hundred blind shots with my iPhone I got about 3 good ones of the pendant tube with groove and 1/4" line.
Posted below is the best of the three. The white area near the top appear to be scratches in the gelcoat from the shackle.
The groove is deep enough that I am going try to fix it this year.
I'm thinking about some type of thin walled tubing with a flared end that I can epoxy into the tube.
I probably could even use something like 3/8"wide 1/16" flat stock with a bend in the end epoxied in to cover the groove and provide a smooth surface for the pendant line.
Was wondering what you guys thought?
