Catalina 22 Anchor Chain

My pre-owned boat has only 6' of 1/4" Chain. Want to add 8'-0" to the existing is chain and not sure what grade or type name to purchase

If you havent got a windless then "hot dip galvanized" proof coil chain. A joiner on what look like 2 "C"'s the same size as a link of chain works well...strong and easy to join the 2 pieces.

I'd agree if you were dealing with a bow roller, but you're not. I had a C22 from 1983 to 87, great boat, 1981 SK, #10496.
In your case, just use a shackle. I was a proponent of those C chain links for years, but primarily because they came over my bow roller better, I have no windlass.

Chain is cheap. Throw away that six foot piece, and get yourself a 20' length of 1/4" galvanized chain. Home Depot chain is fine.

There is zero chance you will ever look back and say "IF ONLY I had used two short pieces of chain joined together."
