...pretty stain resistant and doesn't mold. It's polypropylene, as I recall. The biggest problem is that it tends to lose adhesion and need to be readhered. I have a few spots I need to take care of. Versus a full headliner, which I had on my last boat, I like it. You have access to all the deck hardware nuts, but don't have a hard surface overhead. Some have glued battens to the hull and put thin wood in the vee berth, but it doesn't bother me.

I know this is an older post but I was wondering if you had any tips on how to clean the "fuzzy walls". I just bought an 8.0C and I have started reading the posts in this forum. If there is an previous forum about it can you just send me the link?

I remove all of mine and after fixing the core, laid up 6 oz cloth. It gave me a nice texture. Next thing is to prime and paint. This ought to make it brighter inside and easier to clean.

I pulled the carpet from the V berth in my H23.5 and replaced with "planks" of luan plywood. I bought a few 4X4 sheets at Lowes and ripped it into 3-4" strips I sanded the edges smooth and slightly rounded over, stained to match the one piece of teak below, and finished with a few coats of polyurethane on all sides. I glued it in place with liquid nails. It's still in place after about 10 years and does show some age, but still looks better than the carpet.

I'll get you a pic this weekend. I'll add, that although it has held up pretty good for so long, it does have a couple of boards where the poly has a few bubbles from heat/moisture. I can easily replace those, but if I had to do it over, I would definitely consider solid wood instead of plywood.

I didn't like it at first either but afeter cleaning it with one of those portable steam cleaners..the little Bissel one...it has grown on me. What we like is the quiiet, how it prevents the condensation, it is warmer and inslulates the heat and you can just stick things to it with velcro like lightweight lights, small photo frames, mirrors etc. And we don't even notice it now.
