Wasn't built that way
I was a Cal dealer and had a 3-30 as a company boat, racing it for 2 years in Chicago in thte late 70's. We often sailed it double headed with a high cut jib and a staysail beneath. the factory didn't offer it with an inner headstay, so that was added by a later owner. This boat was underpowered in lighter airs, but had a large foretriangle so the double head rig would work. We gave up after 2 years trying to get it going in anything less than a gale and switched to another boat.
