Does anyone know where the wires running to the mast top can be disconnected near the mast step when removing the mast for transport. I looked inside out for a connection point but could not find one. I had to cut the wires at base of mast after the crane lifted the mast off the the step. The wires go into the compression post then to the panel from there. I looked at the C30 wiring diagram but it was no help. It is a bit late now as I will have to make a joint using weather pak connectors. Still may be able to make it easier next time. Thanks Ken "Dancin Bear"

Mast wiring

My cat30tr has the connector inside the mast at its base. I recently replaced the "trailer" type connector with a new one. Make sure you leave enough slack so when the mast is lifted the connector can be disconnected and the wires are not pulled and damaged.

while we are on this topic i have a related ...

what do you do with the wiring and your fingers as the crane lowers the mast. i gave the wiring one good shove and hoped for the best. i now have a short going to the steaming light. the short does not affect the anchor light. i was more than a little nervous holding the wires up in the mast while it was being lowered. if i had planned a little more i would have had something to hold the wires up better. i am afraid the wire was pinched. whats your solution?

Thanks for responses

Thanks Wayne & John. My mast had a trailer type connection (Weatherpac) for two of the wires. i think it is for mast head. There is also a coaxial type cable. Then there is another cable that has about 6 smaller wires inside of it. I had to cut the coaxial type and the other 6 wire cable. I thought for sure I was missing something. I have experience with all these types of connectors so I will add some wire and make a connector. Good thing you ask me about my fingers. I honestly had not thought of that but I will check it out ahead of time to see if I can make it safe to do. Thanks guys for the replies. Ken
