Hi everybody, I was thinking of mounting an outboard bracket to my c22. I would like to do this so I could tilt the motor out of the water when sailing and at the dock. The outboard in my well is also noisy and the wash from the prop shakes the tiller a little when you start to rev it up. Has anybody mounted one? How did it work out? Can you use a short shaft and get it deep enough in the water? How was it as far as putting stress on the transom fiberglass?

For sure, I would use a long shaft (deeper one) because using a short shaft would'nt be enough in big waves, propuller will get out of water. For the transom's stress, an easy way to mount your outboard bracket is to put a plywood piece in the interior of the sailboat, on the transom and use longer bolts to bolt on your bracket, for sure with washers. Yous could also, to meke better, re-cover your wood peice in the interior with fiberglass, esay to do. Make sure your fiberglass cover the entire wood piece and alos that the fibreglass cover more than the wood only, but also a part of the transom. So that the edge of the wood piece are completely re-covered. Sorry for may bad english... I try to do my best!
