Butane in cold weather

I have a question for those who use those cute single bunner butane stoves.

Does the butane work below freezing?

I read somewhere that it wont .

I have been using one for 5 years with out a hitch. Freezing weather doesn't happen much here in Austin but I have used when is was close to freezing.

Usually not very well, if at all. Even if you do get it lit the valve/canister will quickly freeze up once running. For winter mountaineering we ditch our butane in favor of white gas and an MSR stove...
