Thinking of trucking my H-34 from Md to FL. My last experience shipping household stuff to FL makes me wary. Any advice what's out there, national/local? How to select and what surprises did you experience?
Appreciate any advice.

Lots of people specializing in moving sailboats who do a good job. Most recent prices I got were about $5.00/mile.

contact the boat mfgs shipping department and see who they use and if they would like a back haul coming back the the plant some drivers are independent and can pick up a back haul from your location to your new location but make sure there permits and papers are in order....

Make sure the transporter is insured and bonded to cover "your" potential loss, not just their loss! Make certain the value of the vessel is covered 110%. My last experience was very good - shipped on our cradle. You may want to check with your insurance provider to review the shipper's information?
The Real Pros have fantastic Trucks and awesome hydraulic trailers. Estimates for our 272 Oday (5200 Lbs) for a 200 mile shipment were $750 to $1500. We chose a Mid Estimate, but shipper had a problem with prior load, then we chose a low price Quote due to availability and delivery was uneventful! Remember CYA or CYBoat...

I'll bet you could ask on this site and find plenty of crew to sail it down. They might even pay you to crew.

I used a Uship auction when I moved mine. It's an online auction where different transporters bid on moving your boat. You can get some fairly good prices especially if your moving schedule is not tight. Be sure to specify if you would require a hydraulic trailer. I paid $700 to move mine off stands to his hydraulic trailer and set it up on stands in my yard. He only had to transport it about 50 miles but took him 5 hours total to move it and set it up. He did a great job. I believe he is from the Baltimore area. Like was said earlier, make sure they are bonded and insured.

Like some of the others, that sounds like a fun boat trip. All the money and time you'd spend to de commission and commission the vessel, plus the cartage fee, could easily pay a delivery crew.... and repairs or upgrades you'd need for that relatively easy trip. I mean, it's a boat and there is an intercoastal waterway.
