My '80 9.2A lacks both dodger and bimini. I'd like to get a bimini pronto, then add a dodger later. I've done a bit of searching on this forum and others and know folks have worked around the aft traveler. My main concern is covering most of the cockpit, rather than worrying about the helm area.

Looking at a scale drawing of the deck area, it would seem that the width would need to be roughly 72" to 84" (looking at the cockpit coaming surface) and the length 84" to 96". Does that sound about right? I won't have access to the boat for another ten days or so for more precise measurements. Any suggestions on height?

Does anyone have a bimini they're happy with that they could send me measurements from?

If I could settle for something a bit shorter, would this perhaps work?

Sorry if there are any obvious gaffs in the above. I suffer from acute first-boat-itis.

i have a dodger and bimini frame for my boat and will measure them sometimes today and let you know......as for the aft travler i dont think there is anything that can be done for that problem ...moveing the travler on to the cabin top seems to not be and option as it looks like it will be to close to the mast to be effective and would be in the way of access to the cabin....

Thanks, Woody. I owe you!

Capt. Jeff had suggested moving the traveler, but I see little support for that notion. I plan to leave it alone.

my bimini is about 72 inches wide and i think 5 or 6 ft long. It sits on the cockpit coamings. For length you must leave room for the dodger.

after reading Calypso's post i went back down to the boat and measured where the pivots actually are mounted to the coamings...it reads 77 inches...so now i am wondering if i have the correct bimini frame for my boat ....it was not installed on the boat when i got it..just laing in the cabin.....so in the event its not the correct one the good news is i can cut it down to the proper size....so Buggs you may want to disregard my original measurments as they may be incorrect....sorry for the mix up......

Woody, your measurements may be right (9.2A). Remember, Calypso has a 9.2C.

Calypso, I have been trying to find measurements or a diagram or picture of a bimini for my 9.2C. Any accurate and detailed info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Woody,

I'm about to order the bimini in hopes that it'll arrive in Deal Island while I'm there next week. the company I'm ordering from offers the six-foot long model in either an 85-90 inch width, or a 91 to 96 inch width. When you measured the pivot point on the cockpit coaming, was it about halfway back, between the two anti-slip areas? That seems the logical place to mount it, but when I measure this on my scale drawing, it comes out pretty close to 7 feet, or 84 inches, even. I'm wondering if your 92 inches means it's mounted to the deck, rather than the coaming.

Thanks.
