suction at bilges lowest point
Place the bilge pump as close to center line s possible, and in the area where most water will collect, probably in the 26M about six feet back from the mast, or aft of the dagger board trunk. If you want to know exactly, poour a gollon of water in the bilge and see where it ends up. IF you have a pump with a removeable screen on the bottom, you can fasten this to the hull so it won't move around. A twist will remove the pump for servicing, or cleaning. If the screen is not removeable, then the outlet hose must be fastened to the boat somewhere close to the pump so it can't move much when severly heeled, as in a knockdown. When the boat is upright you always want the pump to be in the lowest part of the bilge ready to go.Smooth bore pipe to the stern drain is okay if it's up high on the transom, at least aboe the floor. HIgher is better.
