I have a 1981 Pearson 36 cutter (same layout as P365). What is the best unit for adding refridgeration? (I have none at this time.) What is the difference between Cold Machine and Super Cold Machine? Is the water cooling option really a current saver when cruising? Do I need to add insulation to my icebox? Where is the best spot for the compressor unit? (I hoped you might be familiar with upgrading this type of boat.) Thanks.

Upgrade

The ColdMachine is air cooled and the SuperColdMachine is air and water cooled. This is the biggest difference. The water cooling is a big energy saver when the air temperature goes above 100 degrees at the compressor unit, which happens more times than what people realize. Yes will need to add insulation to your box. The best location is under the salon seats if you have not placed other equipment their yet.

Super Cold Is Great!!!!!!

We commissioned a new Hunter 340 in February 1998 and had a Super Cold unit installed. When we anchor out I turn on the water cooling option and I am pleased with the results. For a few hundred dollars more I think it is a worthwhile upgrade if you anchor out alot.
