I bought a 2000 MacGregor 26X from am an original owner who never replaced the line on the keel. What type of line material or type of cable is suggested?

According to this article the cable is stainless steel Macgregor 26S Outside page 40 (purplesagetradingpost.com) and you can purchase a replacement cable from Blue Water Yachts: KEEL, CABLE (bwyachts.com)

Great response from sfbay. +1 to getting this cable and other gear from BWY. I have always found their prices to be quite reasonable and service courteous and helpful.
Would add that I recently replaced the centerboard cable on my 26S. I was able to take care of it myself, but it did require a good deal of breath-holding and several trips "down under".
