baystar hydraulic steering tohatsu 26x

I have a mac 26x and a tohatsu 50hp. I have baystar hydraulic steering kit which the web site assures me works with my engine. Fitting looks difficult, the only way I can see it working is to take an angle grinder to the bull head mounting on the engine where the rudder link bar normally attaches. Before I make an irriversible change I thought i'd ask if anyone had done this before
