In India we use J24's for Match Racing in almost every event. Can anyone give me tips on using the back stay? ow does it affect the entire rig? How should it be adjusted in light / medium / heavy winds?

Adjust it more (pull tighter) as the wind increases( from 10kts or so) to bend the upper part of the mast, which will pull the middle of the mainsail flatter (depower). it also will increase the tension on the headstay, which will help it from sagging to leeward (which makes the foresail get to full, creating more unwanted heel).
