Did you ever have any issues with the onboard water or holding tanks? The owner of this boat said he has only had the boat for a year and never tried using the water or waste systems during that time. Was yours the fixed keel version? I know that some fixed keel s2's had keel bolts, wondering if there were ever any leak problems around the keel. This is going to be my first cabin sailer so any tips, tricks or opinions are greatly appreciated!
I never had a problem with water tank
but the boat came with a reciculating head that spung a leak
I replaced the head with a new toilet and remote holding tank just foward of the water tank , and new carpet for the cabin sole
my boat was the fixed keel version
the were built with the keel molded with the hull and lead shot epoxied in the bottom of the keel - very solid and strong
we did alot of cruising with 10 - 14 hr days and the tiller pilot was great
I put the outhaul inside the boom with 6 - 1
took the boom ends off and had a metal shop weld brackets to the ends for sheaves
all controls were led to the front of cockpit for easy single handling
before I had roller furling I rigged a jib downhaul
I also rigged a single line main reefing
another trick is when you reef is to loosen the outhaul , tie a line between the two clews and retighten the outhaul with that 6 - 1 for a flat sail
the boat loves heavy weather
