My 1984 First 38 anchor light died, and I'd like to avoid two trips up the mast. Any idea what bulb I might find up there? The fixture is a short cylinder about 1 inch in diameter and height.

It depends on the brand of the fixture. It will most likely be a festoon type bulb either with points on the ends or dimples. I had a Perko fixture on my 323 mast. Good luck if that's what you have. My steaming light was pop riveted to the mast. The rivets had to be drilled out to completely remove the fixture because the bulb must be removed from the back which is held in by 2 screws.(a brilliant piece of engineering). I think the Perko had pointed ends , the masthead fixture used the dimpled ended bulb. That one was easy, it just had a twist off lens.

Doug, I just replaced the steaming and deck lightbulbs on my 2006 B323, and the lens came off from the front. Dismounting the fixture was not needed.

Ron, I think Beneteau or more likely e mast supplier is on a brand of the month plan when it comes to light fixtures. My 323 doesn't even have a deck light. The steaming light is Perko, the masthead running light is AquaSignal, the bow light and Stern light are Hellas.
