I am replacing a burned-out high output alternator with the original alternator that came with the boat.
When they installed the high output alternator they added a new + battery cable directly from the the house battery bank? In my mind this bypasses the engine battery so I want to reinstall the old alternator using the same wiring that was originally on the boat. Unfortunately they removed the old + lead to the alternator.
if I remember correctly the + battery lead came from the starter. If someone with the same engine could validate that along with the gage of the + battery lead, it would help me a lot.
