Hello all,

My wife and I recently joined the ranks of S2 owners. She's a 1986 9.2A and in great condition. The PO took great care of her and was very helpful during the purchase. She's on the hard in Wickford, RI for the winter and will be moored there come spring.

I just joined the forum today and have already found it helpful. Since we just took ownership in December, which is when she was hauled out, we have a nice little list of things to do before we put her back in.

Thanks for all the great information and hopefully I can contribute as I learn about our S2.

Cheers,
Joe

Congratulations! Buying a boat in good condition is the way to go. I think there are still two 9.2A's on the market from when I was looking two years ago. I feel bad for the boats...but not bad enough to buy them. Paying $3-5000 less for a poorly kept boat isn't a bargain. I bought the best 9.2A on the market at the time and it still has plenty of work to keep me busy.

Thanks everyone.

You are so right Bob. We looked at a lot of boats. Nothing came close to this one for the price and size.

Things to look for. Look for water damage to the bulkheads (hopefully the surveyor caught that). Look for broken tabbing on the engine beds. I hope they improved the design in 86 compared to my 81! The 4x4's were just layed on the hull on a bed of now crumbling epoxy putty and tabbed in 3-4 places on each side with glass rather than encapsulted onto the hull. One of the only crappy pieces of workmanship on my S2.

Welcome & congratulations. Hope that list gets shorter as spring approaches! Mine seem to get longer!
