Good day to all who read this and happy sailing! I am currently in the process of purchasing a 1983 Morgan N/M 45 out of St. Clair Shores Michigan. I am happy to say that the sloop is in very good condition and appears sound and happy from the care it has received over the years. I would like to have some response from owners of this particular vessel that would like to share their thoughts. I would like to hear of any particular dislikes or problems that seem to be related to this model; but I don't want to dwell on problems. I would also like to hear about the good things as well, to understand why I would WANT to buy this particular boat. Is there a Morgan owner's Association out there? Thank-you in advance to anyone who responds to this message. I am looking forward to joining all of you on the water. "ODIE"

Morgan list on Sailnet

David, There's a morgan list on sailnet.com which may give you the information you seek. I am in the process of purchasing a 74 Morgan OI 28, and have gotten a lot of advice/counsel on this particular model. Additionally, there are several sites out there in web-land dedicated to various Morgan models and some of the links are also available in the sailnet forums. Good luck. - Dale

Change of Plans

I wish to thank Dale for the information regarding the Morgan Sites. I hope you find the 28 Out Island the boat for you. I was advised by sailing friends that the Morgan 45 was rigged with all the goodies for racing and would not meet my needs as a cruising type sailor. (I was looking for Length/dollar as opposed to my needs). I will pass Dale's information on to my Morgan owning friends. I have found a beautiful Catalina 36' and hope to join the Catalina crew in just a couple of weeks. I do want to say, after many years of not being in boating, it is a pleasure to be back with all that enjoy the water (Sail or Power). By the way, I just returned from a 2 week cruise to Baie Fine off the North Channel of Lake Huron, and to the cruising folks of the Great Lakes, if you haven't dropped a hook there you are missing a great experience!
