Ok I am an idiot. I didn't realize that photo was a link to a story of Webb Chiles. After reading a few of his books, including where he intentionally sinks his boat under him, I think the guy is a tad nuts. Impressive but nuts.

too funny. I lived aboard a sailboat for 11 years (C30 and a 31 foot motor sailor) and at times thought it was tight. However a good friend of mine lived on the opposite dock finger in a Catalina 22 for a number of years. He made it work but did complain that he couldn't stand up to put his pants on in the morning without standing through the hatch!
We sailed that boat (house) almost every week in almost every type of weather.
