310 Stairs

Ok, is anyone else really disappointed in the stairs on the engine compartment? The original l tan glued on tops always move and allow dirt to stick to the edges. Has anyone made any changes? Looking for advice

Hi Ken,

I agree. The edges of those runners seem to collect every bit of dirt that they can find. Also, in trying to clean them, I cracked the thin gellcoat on the vertical surfaces of the steps. This gelcoat seems to be ridden with voids. I also would like to find a solution.

Wow, those stairs really look geat! As I'm sure you know, the old ones are really an eyesore and they collect dirt. Yours are really fantastic. I don't have the particular issue of Mainsheet. As a matter of fact, I've been meaning to sign up for the Catalina 310 International Association for a while and now you've given me the impetus to do it. However, I would appreciate your sending me the article. How did you get the old runners off. They seem glued down pretty well. I thought of acetone or adhesive remover or nali polish remover.

By the way, what are those poles on the port side of the steps. They look like boat poles and/or nets. I usually keep my boat pole tied up to the handrail on the cabin top and use that space to store the boards for the campionway. I use a door stop wedged between the boads to keep them in place.

I just purchased a 2005 310 and agree with others about problems with the stairs - in Florida, the glue holding down the covers melts - what a mess. Would you also send the aritcle to me?
