22 bilge

My recently purchased '74 Oday 22 has a bilge accessible only via a 2"dia. hole in the cabin floor and after pumping it out I still see water. Does anyone have any suggestion for cleaning it out and/or is there another bilge access anywhere on this vintage 22 ?

I have a 72 O'Day 22...The only access to the bilge I've ever found is the hole in the deck at the rear of the cabin sole. I pump mine out with a cheap plastic pump (available at any marine store). If you are intent on getting it totally dry, attach a sponge to the end of a stick. Be aware it will only stay dry until the next rain storm. I think the water comes in at the windows and toe rails.Good Luck!Warren

Vacuum it out

I own a O'Day 25. I find the water gets in the bilge when I use the Ice chest in the cabin. I do not have a bilge pump yet, so I just use a wet/dry vac to get it out. I have not used the cooler in a month and the bilge is bone dry.EJ
