2001 Pacific North West Vega Reunion

Hello All:

It's the New Year and, if there is enough interest, I will take the lead and
organize a Vega Reunion somewhere in the B.C. Gulf Islands during the summer
of 2001. My wife and I discussed the July 1st weekend as probably the best
possibility. There are a number of marinas that may suit however, if you
have a favorite, let me know. Port Browning comes to mind, it's central
although it's facilities are a little rough but...we tend to lean that way.

It is important to begin early so please submit your name, the sail number
and boat name as well as the number of individuals that will be attending
with you. I will compile a list and begin the process. I know there are alot
of you out there so don't be shy.

Good on ya Brian!

If it's OK with you, I'll re-print this email in the AVA Newsletter
in the February/March issue as a preliminary notice, unless of course
you make any more firm decisions regarding the event before then.
Laura and I would love to attend (And help) but, unfortunately, I
have to be in Honolulu July 3-4-5, and in Los Angeles July 11-16.
Now if you decide to have it on the weekend of July 7/8.............
But make it work for you and the Vega sailors in your region.

OK that takes care of the Northwest. Let's hear from the Northeast
and Southeast. Choose a place, pick a date and make an announcement.

BTW:

I will be in Ft Lauderdale, FL later this month (25th-31st)and I am
trying to arrange a side trip to Orlando to visit Florence Rosen.
Anyone in the area who would like to get together drop me a line.

The possibility seems interesting, though I have only daysailed my
Vega (#712) for several years, since bringing her to Bainbridge
Island from Orcas Island. Do you know anything about my requirements
for sailing in Canadian waters? I looked at Port Browning's site,
looks pleasant.

As my spouse is not exrememly fond of sailing, she could meet me
there if there is auto ferry access to this island. ??

Apart
from the usual safety considerations (ie. complying with coast guard safety
equipment), there are no other specific requirements for cruising in Canadian
waters. Port Browning is a port of entry for customs so you can clear when you
arrive. There is auto / ferry access to the island from the Tawassan
Terminal.

Let me
know. I will post more details next week as I left my book that gives a better
description of the marina on our boat.

Hi Brian, my wife and I would do our best to attend on Lorna Doone
#1517. We have a # of commitments with kids baseball in the summer,
so when you settle on a date let me know and I will try and schedule
a few day off. Thanks
