Does anyone know what kind of interior wood was used for the 1987 H34, H31, etc. line. It is a lighter wood (oak?). I need to replace some pieces around the cabinets (water has damaged over the years) and was wondering how to get a decent match.

Was this some kind of laminate material, marine plywood, oak plywood? Also, would it be advisable either way to replace with marine plywood and try to varnish to match existing color?

Thanks!

I thought I had read somewhere that it was oak. I like the look of it though, at least in the pics I've seen!
You should be able to get marine plywood with a veneer that will match it, I'd look locally since shipping 4 X 8 sheets of plywood wouldn't be cheap!

I changed the wood behind my sink and I'm pretty sure the wood in my boat is a mahogany veneer. The mahogany looked very thin.
I just used a couple coats of polyurethane to finish it. I don't have any pictures of the finished product yet.
You could use an oak and stain it to match your colours.
hope this helps

in looking at for sale ads on the web, the last year of production of the H34's appeared to use a lighter wood than the earlier ones. Mine is a mid-production '83 model and the wood has darkened over the years to look more like a mahogany but when cleaned and varnished it is teak. Be very careful with the veneered pieces as they are almost paper thin.
