Hi, Here's a reach of a question for anyone out there. I'm in the process of either repairing or replacing the toilet fixture in the head of our 1980 O'Day 30, which I bought used several years ago. The toilet fixture is a white Wilcox Crittenden "Head Mate" model which seems like a vintage fixture, and perhaps the original fixture, because the Installation and Maintenance Instructions include a TWX number (as in telegraph grade communications system) to contact the manufacturer. Wilcox Crittenden still make this particular model in white only Does anyone know if this is the original fixture in white, or if the original fixture might have been a cranberry color, perhaps provided by another manufacturer, to match the head's sink and surrounds? There is no evidence that there was another manufacturer's toilet ever installed as there are no old holes in the mounting and connection areas of the toilet... Just trying to settle a little debate with my (overly?) design conscious wife...LOL!! Thanks, Jim

Head Color

On our 1980 O'Day 30 the bowl was also white. We just recently replced our head also. It was cheaper to buy new, then rebuild the old. Less messy also.

Thanks Kim and...

Hi Kim, Thanks for your response. Do you know if your white toilet fixture was the original? Also a Wilcox Crittenden "Head Mate" model perhaps? Did you replace it like for like? I could sure be convinced to just replace ours if its like for like, and all we have to really get through is disconnecting and reconnecting a couple hoses and a few screws into the floor to hold the toilet down... I have a note into the manufacturer to see if their current "Head Mate" model has the same connection locations and hose sizes, etc. Thanks again... Jim

Head Replacement

No we did not replace it with the same unit. The hole spacings were all a little different for each unit we looked at. It is very easy to drill new holes and patch old. When I looked at the cost of rebuilding the old head, replacing with a new one certainly pleased my wife. Good Luck. Kim
