Video Blogs - which do you watch and why?

sam is the ******* man. truly the best attitude anyone could have, incredibly independent and resourceful, about as minimalist as you can get while still doing everything "right". if theres anyone of these youtube vloggers id buy a beer for or buy a shirt from, its him.

    Need Sailboat Trailer

If it had a cradle, you could always buy a bare 14k trailer frame and weld the cradle to it. depending on boat weight, a dual 7k axle trailer might suffice, as long as its not a deck over, then its too tall. If you have the right tow vehicle and you have sufficient towing experience, even if...

Mast Raising on a Capri 25

No bridges or anything, it just lives on a trailer and will get transported a fair bit for sailing/racing. dang, thats what i figured. will be kind of annoying to have to adjust the stays, but thats what i figured. Never had to mess with the swept back spreaders either once i got them set right.

Mast Raising on a Capri 25

Ya, i plan on building a long mast crutch with a roller to help with this situation. The other difference im not sure on, is how the swept back spreaders i currently have vs the perpendicular spreaders on the capri changes the equation. Ha, ya...i caaaaaaaaaaaaant wait for the first time i...

Mast Raising on a Capri 25

Ya, thats the method im not doing lol, that im trying to see if anyone else also avoids. They have too many cooks in the kitchen, so much extra shit to set up, their cable management is a disaster (could just be a result of not doing it that much so its not a refined process) if anything, this...

Mast Raising on a Capri 25

I love stress, thats why i enjoy racing sailboats, so no issues there. As long as the mast stays directly over the base when going up, i dont see an issue with the motion of heaving it up :D I should have asked the question differently, im not concerned with the ease of raising the mast, im...

Mast Raising on a Capri 25

Hey all, Im looking at a capri 25 for sale in my area. One of my biggest concerns is the ease of raising the mast. At my local sailing area there is no crane, and at the moment no way to store the boat at the lake with the mast up. So im forced to rig it when i go sail it. With my current...

The most insane altercation i've ever had with a guest on board

I have usually made some sort of comment, indirectly about being the skipper during the motor out saftey talk, but probably not enough. You're right that ill have to be very clear about that point from now on, and specifically mention not helping unless instructed to do so, before the lines are...

The most insane altercation i've ever had with a guest on board

It's an early 80s h22, so it's way bigger than the modern 22 (and much slower lol) That's what blew me away!! I've known him for a few years. Everyone knows he talks 1000 ft above his actual skill level, but I've skiied with him (not a good skiied lol) climbed with him, he's been a good friend...

The most insane altercation i've ever had with a guest on board

Oddly enough, there was a girl on board he was convinced liked him a lot (he thinks all girls are in love with him), she in reality wanted nothing to do with him, and I'm sure he was trying to court her as well as impress everyone on the lake that day (which was nobody but one other sailboat lol...

The most insane altercation i've ever had with a guest on board

Haha ya! I don't see why it's that crazy!? That's what I normally have on a day sail. Of course I haven't been around all 22 ft boats, but it's one of the biggest 22' boats I've seen, just really deep, large interior, decent cockpit. Usually one or two chilling up front, somone down below making...

The most insane altercation i've ever had with a guest on board

This last weekend was one for the record books, as i had the most unbelievable insane altercation with a guest on board, that was one of my friends. Sorry for the long tale. Lead up to this, i had been telling this dude id take him sailing for about a year, multiple time he told me how great he...

Busy launch weekend photos -post yours!

First time out this year! Tried a sailing and skiing mission...but it ended up nuking that night as we were moored up at the base of the glacier and we didn't even ski the next morning for fear of avalanches. We just got nice and drunk and had a good sleep. Ended up sleeping all 5 of us inside...

Currently snowing and the lake is iced over. I don't fancy my hand at being an ice breaker, but I can't wait to post the first splash pics

    Is this still sailing?

x2. Having automatic controls for the sheets on a switch right next to the tiller is a sweet touch. I can't imagine what its like to sail a 55' multi from a tiller

    Hunter 22 Build: LIL' Nellie

Replacing the trailer bunks was straight forward. Where the metal support was digging into the wood I just ground in a notch so it wouldn't force it to crack. I replaced the SS Hardware and used a ratchet strap to pull the board down enough to bend it into place. When the boat was almost done I...

    Hunter 22 Build: LIL' Nellie

For my method of prep...I elected to sand the bottom with a 6" RO sander. In hindsight...it probably would have been better to just chemically paint strip it and start from scratch. But by the time I realized that sanding took way longer than was necessary, I had already done enough that I might...

    Hunter 22 Build: LIL' Nellie

The worst one yet! Bottom paint! The bottom protection was questionable and ugly at best. Most of it was a layer of red that would rub off into a dust on you or anything that touched the bottom of the boat. Aside from being messy it was ugly and I wanted to be sure there was adequate coating and...
