    New 26D owner

Keep in mind, Matros does not have the stock MacGregor mast, or boom, or sails, or batons, or rigging. He only has the Hobie 18 mast, boom, sails, batons, and some Hobie rigging that might work (new sidestays needed for sure) He can spend his money on sails that fit his Hobie boom, or he can...

"Right On!'s" name is Wes and his last name is either "Right" or "Rite" (but I think its "Right", which explains his username). He lives in Redding California so you might be able to find him in the phone book. But the man to talk to is Chip Buck, Owner of Whirlwind sails of San Diego, CA...

The Art of Finding a Gunk Hole with a Mac 22

What did you like better between the V22 & V21?

Welcome Matros! I can only suggest someone who had to make that same decision, RightOn! (and you probably already read his thread). RightOn! decided to keep using the Hobie Boom because he believed that it improved the Mac 26D weatherhelm issues. To compensate for the sail area lost on the...

Clear cystals found in undersink cabinet

So you found mysterious crystal like structures under the moldy sink cabinet of your boat that have formed from being there so long and naturally......you tasted them?!?

Will Miss the 26D. Seen a Mac 19 for sale?

Agreed! 10 is way too high. That's 26X territory

Will Miss the 26D. Seen a Mac 19 for sale?

Not a bad idea. My goal is to stay away from weighted swing keels. I would prefer either water ballast or shoal draft (non-weighted swing centerboards are fine). Which small MacGregor was offered in fixed shoal draft keel?

Will Miss the 26D. Seen a Mac 19 for sale?

Sadly no. :-( I found myself without the know-how and skills to complete the rotating mast mod and I was in it too far to turn back. Thankfully I found an engineer interested in continuing and finishing. I sold it for a loss but at least I sold it to someone nice who will make her an amazing...

Will Miss the 26D. Seen a Mac 19 for sale?

Thanks Sum! Yes the Mac 19 is a rare boat and will be hard to find. If I don't succeed in finding one locally, I may have to expand my search to other boats.

Will Miss the 26D. Seen a Mac 19 for sale?

As most of you know, I had put my Mac 26D up for sale to fund the purchase of my next boat, a Mac 19. I couldn't have found a nicer guy to sell my 26D to and he will shortly be joining this forum and introducing himself. Luckily he's an engineer by profession and will be able to accomplish...

    Question for Oreana123

Wait, my head is spinning. Finding41, you, Sum & Bill are among the nicest, most helpful guys on this forum. I owe you guys for a lot of good advice. Are you telling me your username on the other forum is the Admin, Kmclemore?!?! But you're a kind person & Kmclemore is so tough the way he...

Broke my mast today on wires!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, only paid $200 for whole Hobie 18' catamaran (had damaged pontoon). Was able to use mast and boom. John/"RightOn!" did the same.

Turn Your 26C Into a 26R: Parts Guide

I appreciate that Bob and I will take you up on that when I run into a tough area. Does anyone know if the current spreaders on my Hobie 18 mast would need to be changed to the rotating MacGregor 26M type? My Hobie speaders do not rotate like Bob's do but the Hobie mast was intended to...

    MacGregor 65' Yacht Shared Ownership

You make a great point and it's true that the sleeping arrangement for 4 is cramped (the width of the sleeping area is 38 inches across). I also realize that that low low current bid of $2,650 with 5 days left would lead you to believe that these MacGregor catamaran's are not the deal that the...

    MacGregor 65' Yacht Shared Ownership

Here's your opportunity for a 50/50 shared ownership in a MacGregor 36' Catamaran. It could turn out to be a money making opportunity as it is a giant beach catamaran that can sail with up to 18 on the deck/trampolines and is used by several charter companies as a "Party Boat" for daysails...

    Flotation Foam

Those insulation panels are a good idea and not expensive. They float well as proven by my neighbor who put 3 layers of them beneath a wood deck for the whole family to sit on at the lake. Never discount redneck ingenuity :snooty:
