    On or Off

I've always left shore power on and batteries charging in the past, even for a long period of time. Of course, the charger regulates and goes on float as necessary. I also leave the DC fridge running typically. I've had issues with electrolysis in the past that resulted in a broken strut...

Raymarine Lighthouse 3 and custom sailing pages

Hi all, Do you know how to add new custom sailing pages with the Sail DIAL on Raymarine Axiom or eS series? I know how to create new pages and add data boxes, but not to add the sail DIAL specifically. I could do it easily with Lighthouse 2, but cant seem to find the option with LR3 any...

    Code 0

Hi All - Doing a bit of racing on my 40.5. I am considering adding a code 0 to my inventory. the PHRF (pacific northwest) rules are not a problem. The 40.5 moves really well in mid to high winds and in those conditions we're quite competitive in our class. In lower winds, however, not so...

    Accent lights (easy project)

This must have been the easiest project I've done... added LED ribbon lights port and starboard in the cabin.. And that was a 15 minutes <$40 project. I think the result is really cool, you can set it any color or brightness. It will make anchored nights even better. LED details here on...

    transducer change... water spout....

my airmar DST joined the fate of many others... I thought some would enjoy 25 seconds of action replacing it... all ended well. We had all necessary plugs near by... It's key to be placed right above the hole to slide the transducer back-in. First tried to do it an angle, and that was a bad idea...

Hey fellow sailors... Time to replace the faucets in both heads on my 40.5. I know what hardware to get but wondering if anyone has a good tip for accessing the faucets, seems to be very tight space behind the bowls.... Thanks much Frederick

    interior wood treatment

Hey All I love the look and feel of the wood inside the 40.5. It was become quite weathered unfortunately and I'd like to restore it to its former glory. I've tried to apply teak oil in the past, but with mixed results. Would any have recommendations? I would also like to restore the...

    411 steering console

Hi all I don't understand why the steering console in the 411 is so big and bulky, taking so much of the cockpit. Having to reach through the wheel to access instruments seems quite cumbersome. Does anyone know of any slimmer replacement? or have any suggestions to improve? thanks Frederick

    Holding tank forward hose 40.5

Hi All Finally replacing my holding tank on Pardon My French. I think we have the work plan figured out with some help from some of you. Do you know where/how to change the forward head hose? The hose to the aft head is cracked, so I assume the forward one is as well or will be soon, so now...

Hi All - Two big projects in the next few weeks on my 1993 40.5. 1. replace the holding tank (plenty of great info on this forum) 2. replace the stove. Need to upgrade from CNG to propane. I think I may have used the bottle of CNG in Seattle... I hear that one could change the burners...
