The 189 rating is without the chute. The base rating is 183 with 3 seconds added for the furling jib and another 3 for the fixed prop. For comparison the Catalina 30's here rate between 183 and 201 depending on configuration. C27's rate 210-222, Ranger 28's 183-189. And J-80's rate 117...
I would have bought that boat myself but I didn't want a shoal keel. It is in really good condition and very well outfitted.(I looked at it awhile back).
I just received a PHRF rating of 189 here on Lake Norman, but with the present crisis all racing has been cancelled for...
The black object is the mount for the Raymarine wind transducer, my boat has an I60 wind display.
I'll be replacing the rest of the bulbs for the running lights with LED's from marinebeam in the future.
Roo and Codybear,,,, thank you both for the helpful advice. I think I will forgo the stove and use the space for more useful purposes as you suggest.
I installed the correct brackets for the flicker and replaced the anchor light with a combination tricolor/anchor light from marinebeam.com...
Codybear, that's correct, no brackets! Guess it was too much trouble for boatyard to install correctly. I have brackets on order, expected in a couple of days.
Thanks for the picture, it clears up the issue.
My boat arrived at my marina last week and I've been getting to know it. It's on the hard to get a bottom job if the weather ever cooperates.
How is the backstay flicker mounted on the top of the mast? Mine has two holes through the flicker (selden says "do NOT drill any holes....) and two...
I was up there to look at that boat. Would have bought it except it is shoal draft, that wasn't reflected in the listing at the time.
I'll use both boats as guides when I set mine up, along with all the advise I can get(including waiting awhile).
I've looked for more info on that 275R but haven't found any. Perhaps it's a custom modification.
I sail in a VERY light air area and think a 130-150% genny would be just the ticket in spite of the loss in pointing. And since I primarily race in non-spin it would be would be a game changer...
I just became the first owner of hull #31. I bought the boat in Ohio and will have it shipped to NC asap. I will be day sailing and club racing on Lake Norman as soon as it warms up.
The boat has an A-Spin on a furler and the 106% genny, plus I'm planning to add a larger Genoa...
Tell us how you do in the double handed race
I'm considering purchasing a 275, the only reservation I have is the race performance. Can it sail to a fair rating? (ie how does it compare to an older C25 or C27?)
