    Don't fight the Power

I'm obsolete, too. Change is interesting, though. More thread drift: Read an inspiring news story today "62-year-old former Marine sets Guinness World Record by holding plank (position) for over 8 hours". Hey, I'm only five years older... maybe I should set a smaller goal and try...

    Don't fight the Power

I would love electric, but the problems are range, weight (for adequate battery power), recharge times via solar, and cost. For now, I continue to prefer diesel and try to sail as much as possible when conditions are conducive. I prefer to keep my boat on a mooring and don't want to have to tie...

    Don't fight the Power

Hinkley uses jet drive in their "Pinic boats". I've always wondered how people keep them from clogging up with marine growth. (My guess is they don't, and/or it's a maintenance nightmare, or they should be stored on a slip lift). Makes sense for jet skis that are pulled out at the end of each use.

Anyone familiar with Larry Pollock's Running Cloud Trimaran?

There are no restrictions on name when you register a boat. Any number of boats can have the same name. (It’s not like a trademark).

    Security alarms

As you noted, false alarms would be problematic. However there are various boat alarm systems that will trigger based on pressure sensors, PIR motion sensors, and traditional alarm system magnetic-proximity contact sensors. I use a system from BoatCommand.com which uses cellular radio to...

Frozen (cold) Raw water Seacock and fiberglass cracks

Helpful, but I doubt the maker would have put the thru-hull where there's coring.

    Swap a 2 blade 1” 13 RH 10 for LH?

Bingo  Unless the transmission was changed that‘s got to be the issue

Frozen (cold) Raw water Seacock and fiberglass cracks

I agree with @thinwater but I would also be concerned about water intrusion into the underlying laminate. I’d grind back the gelcoat cracks and dry it out thoroughly, then recoat with gelcoat or epoxy.

GOBI got me again! (God of Boat Idiots)

Following up: I installed the display head again, and it works in both True and Apparent modes. My speed transducer is still laying in the bilge, as always. IDK what the issue was. (Maybe the Raymarine tech was messing with me?) :banghead:

 Good one... now on my shopping list.

    What is this?

The rust on the tank by the inlet is a tell-tale some other trouble is brewing. That might be correctable or the heater might be nearing end-of-life. Either way, IMHO it should also be addressed.

GOBI got me again! (God of Boat Idiots)

So..... I replaced my Raymarine wind instruments this summer. Worked great, for a week. Then wind speed stopped displaying on the I60 display. Direction and all other functions working. So..... My boat is almost 20 years old and I decided that the wind sensor mount at the masthead might be...

    Dirty bottom.

That looks like only 2 or 3 years‘ growth where I keep my boat. :D

    Replace shaft and cutlass

    Have you actually tried this?

    Replace shaft and cutlass

    ???? I wouldn't try that. o_O

Wednesday is Photoday!! I miss a good squall. Do you get them out on the water?

I don’t miss a ”good squall”. I fear them. I’ve seen some scary line squalls and been caught out in intense wind, hail and close lightning. They are dangerous and damaging. IMHO there are only bad squalls. The power of nature is awe inspiring and beautiful. But it’s better not to be in it.
