    1984 (not Charubini) Hunter 30

Okay, just spoke with the owner. I was the one confused. When I was first told what the boat was I heard Hunter 30; it is, in fact an '84 Hunter 31. Found it on sailboatdata.com. Yep, that's the boat.

    1984 (not Charubini) Hunter 30

Right Justin, the model name was picked up again in 1988 and has continued under one moniker or another. So where did this boat come from?

    1984 (not Charubini) Hunter 30

Recently a 1984 Hunter 30 showed up at the pier. Both the owner and a second friend here at the marina tell me it is not a Charubini hunter. Sailboatdata.com does not have this boat in their database. I would swear it is a Charubini with one difference. The Charubini has a perpendicular cabin...

    Hunter 28.5 water tank repairs

The Gel-Coat in my water tank has been flaking since I bought my 28.5. I need to do some thing about it. I thought it was on this this forum that I read a thread of some one else in the same situation. After searching, I couldn't find it. Who else has done this repair on their Hunter 28.5? How...

Why does Hunter have a bad name?

What can I say about my 1986 28.5? First, my Hunter is a first generation B&R: I have a backstay. I enjoy Red Dog. She sails well and in a wind of 10 to 12 knts, head up, shes sails like an ape with his hair on fire. When I've mention that I own a 1986 Hunter the usual reply is "That's when...

Does Anyone Have a Web Address for Ida Sailor rudders

When purchased my Hunter 28.5, the boat had an Ida Sailor Marine rudder. It was installed by a PO four PO's ago. I love the rudder. But, I'm looking for sales brochures, construct information and the like for Red Dog's documentation. Surveyors get this wrong and list it as foam filled (they...

Would You Use Biodiesel if Available

Yeah, I'm in that same situation. Jon and I are planning 15 Oct to pull sails; he has a haul out date of the 16th. I'm at a 1/2 (out 11gals) tank right now. But please remember, this isn't something that's going to happen next spring. I can't find anyone in my area that sells biodiesel. And...

Would You Use Biodiesel if Available

This is the link to the article. The article does speak to using used cooking oils and animal fat. I've read elsewhere that crops such as soybeans could also be used and heard sawgrass mentioned as well. I'll let everyone make up their own minds about what the big players are doing...

Can you do that with a diesel?

Would You Use Biodiesel if Available

I wouldn't jump in with both feet right away. My first call would be to Great Lake Diesel and listen to what they have to say Having my diesel tank pumped and flushed before switching is also a good idea.

Would You Use Biodiesel if Available

I just finished reading an article on Reuters regarding several US petroleum companies aggressive build-out of biodiesel facilities. They want to beat the Canadians for the biodiesel market. Would you use biodiesel?

    Full Batten Main Sail.

I apologize for resurrecting this thread. However, it need a clean ending. Being landlocked also gives all of time to contemplate your navel. I had been misinterpreting the pictures incorrectly. I should have looking at the parallelism of the top batten to the boom. Call me stupid, but I found...

    Questions About Composting Toilets

I've been doing some research on composting toilets. However, the re-fit of my head is a couple of years away (The laminate used by Hunter is chipping and flaking.). As a Great Lakes sailor, I like the idea of a compositing toilet. No more limitation of my holding tank. No more trips to the gas...

    Full Batten Main Sail.

Okay David, I'll stop using no twist. I do mean an open twist that I cannot close or induce any other twist into the top of the sail. As, I've mentioned earlier, I've tried tensioning/easing the sheet and/or the vang, running the car high and low, tensioning and easing the backstay. The leach...

It is a tradition on my boat; after mooring and turning the engine off, it's a beer before anything else is done.

    Full Batten Main Sail.

Yes we are speaking the same language. I have also contacted Cliff Rucksurahl, a PO of my boat (Four owners ago.) He also suggested I contact Ryan my sail maker. He is also suggested, willing to sail with me to witness my issue first hand. Of course, due to his coaching, I'm going to find out...
