New S2 6.7 Owner - Lifting Keel Maintenance

Thanks. I would like to see if its similar to my 8.0C. I'm restoring my S2 and I tore out all the rot and water damaged wood, but forgot to take a picture of it in order to replace it.

Do you have any pictures of the winch that raises your keel and the set up around it? How its attached, etc...?

Centerboard winch in my S2 8.0C

I'm now ready to reattach my centerboard winch which sits on top of a stainless steal pipe under the cockpit. I think I'm missing a piece that connects the two. Normally I take pictures before removal but didn't do it here. Any S2 8.0C owners with a centerboard winch system, I sure could use...

Total Boats Total Strip has good reviews, so yes I'll take that extra can off your hands if you want to sell it.

    Paint removal

The red doesn't seem to be thicker but the blue came off when I pulled off the "For Sale" signs that were duct taped on. My guess now is that the blue is the gelcoat since the deck is a light blue (or light gray) color, and that wouldn't match the red and the deck hasn't been repainted. So does...

    Paint removal

The blue is above the waterline. The red layer is beneath the blue.

    Paint removal

The blue paint on my 1976 S2 8.0C is coming off and there is a red color showing thru. I removed some thru hulls and see that the red color is the only layer on top of the fiberglass. Is this red color the gelcoat? I was expecting white.

Anybody near the Annapolis Sailboat Show have a room to rent?

My wife and I are considering attending the 2018 Annapolis Sailboat Show and would like to cut the cost somewhere and thought we might find some fellow sailboaters with a room to rent for a few evenings. We would fly in on the 4th. Attend the show the 5th and 6th. Take a day to look around and...

    New owner of a 1975 S2 8.0C

Rick, Its a shoal keel with a retractable centerboard. I don't think the centerboard has been used from the looks of it. The motor was removed and it is set up for an outboard. Since we wouldn't have the boat in the water for a year or two, we didn't buy the motor so I can use that money for...

    New owner of a 1975 S2 8.0C

Rick, How do you know if your boat was produced first or was #100. Also, I think you two live in Flagstaff? Where do you keep your boat? I make it to AZ each year as I go to Congress to do some metal detecting. Jack

    New owner of a 1975 S2 8.0C

Thanks for the reply. Johnson Lake is South of Lexington NB. My mom lives on the lake and has a large storage building that houses the S2. My owners manual says the S2 was built in October, 1975, but the Srl # is SSU27062M76C. What does that tell you? I tried to find out what the Srl# told...

    New owner of a 1975 S2 8.0C

Great idea. I envisioned drilling a hole, thru the lead, to the bottom and placing a stainless steal tube with a screen or small holes in the bottom so I could drain it. Your pump idea would work to pump out the water. Thanks again. Any idea how deep I'd need to drill?

Renovating, refit, or redo don't quite describe it. Reconstruct is probably more descriptive. She needs lots of attention, and that's why I got her. A good foundation was first. Her hull is sound but the cabin sole was soft so I drilled some observation holes in the floor and discovered that...
